Black and Yellow

In the gaps between my anger, it seeps. Sitting on a train, yellow platforms of our memories flashing between tunnels of black. Eyeballs straining from the brilliance of us, back there.

Singing in London. Black. Swinging heavy-bodied through late giddy nights. Black. Accomplishing tents and screaming with laughter. Black.

I can’t remember the same way. What you were doing with her, it didn’t just change our ending, it changed all of that. The train rows forwards, clack, clack.

I see me again, in some time before you cracked; I’m grinning standing staring up at you, your strong hand secure on my back. I won’t know that as you pull our stomachs together and breathe, air ruffling my hair, how you will stare over my head, at someone – anyone – else. Because you can.
