Publisher Visibility & Rights Audit Sprint is a 3-week executive sprint to identify where your catalogue is losing visibility and rights clarity — and leave with a prioritised fix plan.
Publisher-owned value now travels through search, retail platforms, metadata feeds, author pages, rights routes, archive pages, and AI-led discovery. A strong catalogue can be undermined by small, repeatable gaps: missing signals, inconsistent naming, weak attribution, unclear rights, and metadata that doesn’t travel cleanly.
This sprint gives you a structured way to find the highest-impact issues quickly, separate “fast fixes” from structural work, and assign ownership. It is designed for commercial publishers and cultural/nonprofit institutions that need a practical plan — not a report that sits on a shelf.
By the end, you’ll leave with:
- a visibility surfaces scorecard (what’s strong, what’s missing, what’s confusing)
- a rights-signals checklist (what should be clear, where, and to whom)
- a metadata triage list (fast fixes vs structural work)
- a prioritised fix list with owners (what to do first, who does it, and why)
- a 30/60/90-day action plan suitable for leadership, trustees, boards, or funders
Important: This sprint provides strategic education and decision support. It does not provide legal advice and does not guarantee outcomes such as rankings, sales, distribution performance, or compliance.
How you will learn
You’ll learn through a compact executive sprint built around your organisation’s catalogue, discovery surfaces, and rights signals. The focus is practical: identify high-impact gaps, agree owners, and leave with a prioritised fix plan.
- Live Zoom sessions: one structured session each week with examples, checklists, and clear decisions to make.
- Pre-session briefing: 30–40 minutes each week to align language and reduce time spent “getting on the same page.”
- Optional clinic (included): 45 minutes each week for targeted questions and application to your specific catalogue, site surfaces, and workflows.
- Hands-on audit prompts: each week includes a guided mini-audit (what to check, where to look, what counts as a signal, what counts as a gap).
- Decision-first outputs: you’ll produce a visibility + rights-signalling scorecard and a 30/60/90-day plan with owners and next steps.
Note: This sprint provides strategic education and decision support. It does not provide legal advice.
The Tutor
Eric Akoto
Eric Akoto is the editor and publisher of Litro Magazine, which for two decades has published emerging and established writers from around the world — in print, online, and through live events. He has read, selected, and edited short work at scale, and worked closely with writers on getting individual pieces into publishable shape.
His editorial focus is practical: what to cut, what to strengthen, what to leave alone, and where a piece should go next. Writers who have worked with him through Litro Fast Track know him for concise, exacting feedback that turns a near-ready draft into a submission-ready one.
In his sprints he brings that same editorial eye to a small cohort — clear diagnosis, sharper revision decisions, and a realistic plan for sending the work out.
"A few craft points have finally clicked into place for me, so I'm feeling a surge of enthusiasm."
