Rejection, Resilience and the Writer’s Submission Toolkit is a live Litro masterclass for writers who are preparing to submit, approaching agents, entering competitions, or trying to keep going after silence, near-misses, and rejection.
Jenny Knight wrote for years before securing her agent, with close calls, setbacks, and painful lessons along the way. In this practical and supportive session, she helps writers understand rejection as part of the writing life without letting it stop the work.
The class looks at how to approach agents and submissions more clearly, what a strong submission package needs, how to recover from rejection without spiralling, and how to build a writer’s toolkit for confidence, resilience, and community.
You’ll leave with a clearer sense of your next submission steps, a more realistic view of the agent and publishing process, and practical ways to keep writing through the emotional toll of rejection.
How you will learn
This is a live, discussion-led masterclass with practical guidance, examples, and space for questions. The focus is honest, useful and writer-facing: what to do next, how to keep perspective, and how to build a more sustainable writing practice.
- Submission clarity: understand what agents and editors are looking for, and how to approach the process with more confidence.
- Agent research: learn how to think about fit, timing, and the basics of a strong submission package.
- Rejection recovery: explore practical ways to handle silence, form rejections, near-misses, and disappointment.
- Resilience toolkit: build habits and support structures that help you keep writing after setbacks.
- Live Q&A: bring questions about agents, submissions, confidence, or the emotional side of the writing life.
