Photo Essay, 40 days of high & Low Tides, Kent Coast

A series of photographs taken by Russian photographer, Ekaterina Vasilyeva, during the last 40 days of her residence in the UK. Capturing the many diverse faces and scenes of the Kent Coast.

Ekaterina, said of the inspiration to the series of images, “When you shoot, you are mostly interested in understanding something and then reflect on. Not because you have understood something and you want to tell about it, but because the shooting themselves is the way which you go. Like the sea a person has its own internal tides. But our experiences live under their own laws, emotional ebbs and flow, waves follow each other, gradually calming down. But this process is not smooth but rather abrupt. The photographs helped me to comprehend and articulate my visual perception of provincial England. More precisely the Kent coast, which I called home for 2 years”
