Joshua Idehen is a poet and member of two bands: Alt Soul project Hugh, who recently made their debut single I Can't Figure You Out to high acclaim, and spoken word influenced electro brass band Benin City who have been championed by well discerning ears such as Edith Bowman (BBC Radio 6) Tom Robinson (BBC Radio 6) and John Kennedy (Xfm). He has reviewed and been reviewed in The Times, Q Magazine, Metro, Prospect Magazine and Mercury Prize Recommends. His poetry has been published in anthologies alongside luminaries such as Linton Kwesi Johnson. He has performed with acts such as Bipolar Sunshine, Dan le Sac, Laura Marling, and Scroobius Pip. His album Routes with producers LV (Hyperdub) was released in 2011 and was cited as one of both Mixmag and Fact Magazines’ Albums of the Year. He’s a busy man. In case you cannot tell his love for poetry and music runs deep. However he will cease talking about both at least momentarily if you offer him a bounty bar.
