Yoshiro SAKAMOTO, PhD, a recipient of the Crown Prince Akihito Scholarship Foundation 2017–2019, strives to excavate forgotten memories and stories of itinerant poets and artists behind the turbulences of modern history. Tracing their stories and poetry, Yoshiro has traversed many lands: the archipelago of Japan, Transylvania, Switzerland, and Hawaiʻi. He edited MELE–Archipelago (Editura Archipelago, Kyoto/Honolulu, 2019), dedicated to Stefan Baciu, an exile poet from Romania, for the poet’s centennial anniversary.
