Mission

Publishing work with a longer life.

Litro USA supports writers and artists by publishing work with care, selectivity and cultural seriousness. We are interested in writing that can be returned to, taught from, cited, discussed and remembered.

The site is updated weekly through original fiction, essays, interviews and literary features, including Flash Friday, Tuesday Tales, Essay Saturday and Story Sunday.

As a non-profit publisher, Litro USA uses support from readers, funders and partners to commission new work, present it carefully and keep literature visible in public culture.

What we publish

Fiction, essays, criticism, poetry, interviews and cultural work.

Litro USA edits with selectivity rather than volume. We publish new and established writers, organise work into a readable catalogue, and build editorial projects that can live beyond a single post or campaign.

Litro’s wider platform has championed emerging writers while publishing work by, and alongside, established literary voices. Work first published or featured through Litro has gone on to receive major literary recognition, including the Pushcart Prize and other international awards.

  • Flash Friday — original flash fiction and compressed storytelling.
  • Tuesday Tales — short fiction selected for voice, form and control.
  • Essay Saturday — literary, cultural and reflective non-fiction.
  • Story Sunday — fiction and narrative work for deeper weekend reading.
  • Interviews — conversations with writers, artists, publishers and cultural figures.
Autumn edition

Borders Reimagined

Our coming autumn edition moves through New York, Los Angeles, language, migration, memory, translation and belonging.

Built as a print, digital and archive-facing edition, it brings together fiction, essays, interviews, photography and translation around the lines people live with.

How support works

Publishing is infrastructure.

Support for Litro USA helps fund commissioning, editing, publishing and the broader work required to sustain a serious independent outlet. That includes contributor support, editorial development, partnerships and the infrastructure needed to keep the work accessible over time.

Litro USA’s 501(c)(3) status allows us to build literary culture as a public good rather than treat it as disposable content.

Non-profit model

We support writers and artists through careful editorial presentation, durable publication and a platform that takes their work seriously.

Donations, partnerships and institutional support help make that work possible.
