Award-winning short story writer Tania Hershman is Litro’s guide to the world of flash fiction. In this new column, she will be sharing her favourite micro fiction stories, discussing what makes great flash, and interviewing other flash writers. Tania’s first collection of short stories The White Road and Other Stories was published in 2008 and was commended in the Orange Award for New Writers. Her new collection, My Mother Was An Upright Piano (Tangent Books, 2012) is made up of 56 tiny fictions, and was longlisted for the 2012 Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award. Tania’s work has been published widely in print and online and broadcast on BBC Radio. She is writer-in-residence in the Science Faculty at Bristol University and editor of The Short Review.
